Monitor private hospitals functioning
District Vigilance and Monitoring Committee has directed the district administration to set up a committee to go probe the functioning of private nursing homes in Karimnagar town. The committee should submit its report as early as possible by conducting a comprehensive investigation.

The Vigilance and Monitoring Committee meeting was held under the chair of Karimnagar MP B Vinod Kumar at the Collectorate conference hall here on Saturday. The Committee members found fault with the private hospitals of looting common public.
Speaking on the occasion, Finance and Civil Supplies Minister Eatala Rajender asked District Collector Neetu Kumari Prasad to form a committee with District Medical and Health Department officials and the representatives of Indian Medical Association as members, to study the functioning of hospitals on every aspect.
He wanted the medical and health department officials to give permission to new nursing homes only after completion of all formalities. Earlier raising the issue in the meeting, MLC Naradasu Laxman Rao felt that Karimnagar has become a Dubai for doctors. Nursing homes were mushrooming like kirana stores and pan shops and hospitals were being opened in small rooms without having basic facilities.
He posed several questions like - “Who are giving permission to open new nursing homes? And, on what grounds? Who are enquiring whether these hospitals have qualified doctors and basic facilities?” Emphasising the need to revive the system, the MLC asked the administration to constitute a committee to enquire into all these details.
Peddapalli MP Balka Suman, Karimnagar MLA Gangula Kamalakar and Karimnagar Municipal Corporation Mayor Ravinder Singh supported Laxman Rao. Instead of the government hospital, patients have been shifted to a particular private hospital by 108 emergency service ambulances.
That particular hospital management was offering percentages to 108 service staff, Kamalakar alleged and pointed out that hospitals are coming up without basic facilities like vehicle parking and others. DVMC Chairman Vinod Kumar wanted the district administration to conduct comprehensive enquiry into the issue.
