The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is all set to complete the construction of 50 bus bays, 24 graveyards, 40 model markets, the laying of 569 black top roads, desilting and repair works of 322 nalas in 100 days.

Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is all set to complete the construction of 50 bus bays, 24 graveyards, 40 model markets, the laying of 569 black top roads, desilting and repair works of 322 nalas in 100 days.

The GHMC engineering wing has prepared an action plan to complete several repair and construction works within the 100 days. As part of the plan, the civic body has decided to lay as many as 569 BT roads at an estimated cost of Rs 333.01 crore. The total roads to be laid in the financial year 2015-16 would be 912, and of them, work for 284 BT roads is in progress.

The civic body has been a planning to complete 322 works pertaining to nala desilting at an estimated cost of Rs 28.70 crore. The corporation is also planning to complete construction of 24 graveyards with Rs 25.48 crore at various locations. The work is in progress for 17 graveyards, of which 10 will be completed in 100 days. From 499 bus bays sanctioned for the current year, the civic body would finish the construction of 50 bus bays with Rs 19.96 crore during the action plan period.

Of the 200 model markets sanctioned with Rs 130 crore, the Corporation would finish the construction of 40 from the 59 locations identified. Engineering wing officials said they would also protect open spaces in the city by constructing compound walls at 439 places at an estimated cost of Rs 61.60 crore. They would also handover maintenance of pre-fabricated toilets, which were installed at 100 different areas, to Sulabh International and Safai Karamchary Andolan as part of the 100-day action plan.
