The programme is taken up in the areas includes Malkajgiri, RC Puram, Serilingampally, Saroornagar and others in east, west, north and south zones. Chinarayuni Cheruvu in Alwal division, which is spread over 18.26 acre, was made pollution free by removing hyacinth plantations with weed harvesting machine and conduction of anti-larval operations.

The removal of hyacinth has been started from the last two days by various deputy commissioners in their jurisdictions. Commissioner B Janardhan Reddy said that the removal of hyacinth from all the lakes is being taken up on priority and it will continue seven more days until the entire hyacinth and garbage waste cleared from all the lakes in the GHMC jurisdiction. The removed hyacinth from various lakes has been dumped at Jawahar Nagar dumping yard.
