Warangal: TRS MP B Vinod Kumar has strongly condemned the remarks by the TDP and Congress that accused the ruling party of misusing power in the GWMC elections.

He said it was the practice of TDP and Congress to misuse of power by exploiting official machinery to favour their party nominees and to win the election. For TRS, there was no such need as the party enjoys public support. Speaking to press persons in Hanamkonda on Wednesday, Vinod Kumar alleged that Warangal has lost many development projects like Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM), due to negligence of local Congress leaders.

Projects sanctioned under JNNURM to Warangal in 2005 were shifted to Tirupati at the behest of the then CM late YS Rajasekhara Reddy. Congress leaders and ministers here were silent and as the result the city lost 10 years of development, he criticised.

Nearly 900 crores were sanctioned to Visakhapatnam, Tirupati and Vijayawada as part of the project while Warangal was neglected. In order to address such loss, the TRS government now made Rs 900 crore budgetary allocation to the city, he explained.

Referring to the issue of TRS rebels in the GWMC polls, he said the issue was being solved by the party leaders. There were rebels at two or three places and they were willing to support the TRS in the election.

The MP appealed the voters in the Municipal Corporation to elect the TRS official candidates only and not to treat the rebel candidates as the TRS candidates. He asserted that the TRS would win the elections and claim Warangal mayor seat. People should vote for TRS as city development was possible only with the TRS, he added.

The TRS MP said that following an amendment of municipal act by the Centre the areas, sabhas and ward committees with members drawn from different sections of society would be playing key role in the development of their respective areas. The party district president T Ravinder Rao was present.
