Temples decked up for Maha Sivaratri
All the Shiva temples across the district were decked up for Maha Sivaratri festival which will be held for three days beginning from Sunday. Compared to other temples, devotees’ rush would be more for Vemulawada and Kaleshwar temples. Anticipating huge turnout of devotees on the occasion, the authorities of all the shrines made elaborate arrangements.
Karimnagar: All the Shiva temples across the district were decked up for Maha Sivaratri festival which will be held for three days beginning from Sunday. Compared to other temples, devotees’ rush would be more for Vemulawada and Kaleshwar temples. Anticipating huge turnout of devotees on the occasion, the authorities of all the shrines made elaborate arrangements.
Besides painting, the temples were decorated with attractive lightings. Temporary thatched shelters, drinking water facility, toilets and other facilities were also made to avoid inconvenience to the pilgrims. To meet the demand, TSRTC Karimnagar region officials would be operating 497 additional buses.
59 buses on Sunday; 152 on Monday and 140 on Tuesday to Vemulawada; 15 special bus services to Kaleshwaram; 40 to Dubba Rajarajeshwara Swamy temple in Sarangapur mandal; and eight services to Potlapalli of Husnabad mandal. Special buses would also be operated to Velala of Jaipur mandal in Adilabad district.
As Vemulawada temple is one of the most famous temples in South India, about five lakh devotees from Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and Tamil Naidu are likely to visit this temple. The temple authorities made all necessary arrangements by spending Rs 1.10 crore and cancelled all ‘Arjitha’ sevas.
40 closed circuit cameras were also installed on the temple premises and at other key locations in the town. Speaking to The Hans India, Vemulawada temple Executive Officer D Rajeshwar said there was no drinking water scarcity as water supply from Mid Manair has already began.
He said they have cancelled Arjitha seva as it was not possible to maintain the crowd and also to ensure that all the pilgrims would have Lord darshan. On the other hand, 500 cusecs of water was released into River Godavari from Kadem project of Adilabad district on the occasion of Sivaratri. Pilgrims usually take a holy dip in River Godavari before going for Lord darshan. The river which was bone-dry following a prolonged dry spell,is now filled with water after water released from Kadem project.
