Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Social Welfare Minister Ravela Kishore Babu claimed that his son Ravela Susheel, who is at the centre of a controversy of having allegedly stalking a woman teacher and misbehaving with her, was innocent and falsely implicated at the behest of YSRCP chief Y S Jaganmohan Reddy. Susheel was arrested by the police on Sunday in connection to the case.

Addressing a press conference after his son’s arrest here, the Minister found himself at odds in explaining how YSRCP could target his son in this episode. However, he claimed that Jaganmohan Reddy had implicated his son as he was not able to take on the Minister politically. He dared YSRCP chief to fight it out with him directly in political arena rather than try straining his son’s career.

Substantiating his claim, Kishore Babu said that initially his son’s name was not figured in the FIR and included later due to the pressure mounted. According to him, it was a clear case of foisting false case against his son. The Minister claimed that his son and his car driver were beaten up by locals without any reason and pointed out that no action has so far been taken over a complaint lodged with police on the incident.

Questioning the veracity of the video footage aired by a Telugu channel, Kishore Babu alleged that Jaganmohan Reddy has been playing with the life of a Dalit student. He said he was averse to encourage caste associations to take on the Opposition leader in this issue. However, when asked whether the TS police had worked at the behest of the YSRCP chief, the Minister had evaded giving any answer and left the press conference abruptly.

Meanwhile, the YSRCP downplayed the allegations leveled against its chief by the minister and said there was a case of stalking and harassment. Hitting back at the minister, YSRCP deputy floor leader U Kalpana demanded the removal of Kishore Babu from the cabinet for his concocted version to save his son from the nefarious offence on a public road.

“Even as the minister’s son was caught on camera misbehaving with a woman, the minister tried to blame it on the Leader of Opposition and we demand the minister should be dropped from the cabinet and let law take its own course,” Kalpana said.
