Telangana Cabinet okays 1,900 cr HUDCO loan

Establishment of one lakh CC (Closed Circuit) TV cameras in the city, ratification of Private Universities Bill, a new IT policy and approval of Rs 1,900 crore HUDCO loan for Mission Bhageeradha programme were among some of the important decisions taken at the State Cabinet meeting held at Secretariat on Sunday. 

Hyderabad: Establishment of one lakh CC (Closed Circuit) TV cameras in the city, ratification of Private Universities Bill, a new IT policy and approval of Rs 1,900 crore HUDCO loan for Mission Bhageeradha programme were among some of the important decisions taken at the State Cabinet meeting held at Secretariat on Sunday.

The Cabinet also approved the Governor’s address at the joint session of the Telangana Legislative Assembly and Council on the first day of the budget session which is scheduled to begin on March 10. The government would present budget in the Assembly on March 14.

Before heading for Maharashtra to ink agreements with it on the construction of five barrages on the river Godavari and its tributaries in Mumbai on March 8, Chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao discussed in detail the redesigning and re-engineering of Kaleswaram - Chevella and other projects proposed in Khammam district.

Sources said the Home Department had been asked to take up the installation of CC TV cameras at all important places identified in the city. Priority would given to sensitive areas. It is learnt that government is planning to introduce the Private Universities Bill in the ensuing budget session.

The bill has been ratified and forwarded to the Education Department for approval. The Cabinet approved allotment of 3 acre of land to IAS Officers Association and 50 acre of land to TSIIC (Telangana State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation) at Mucharla for the establishment of Pharma City.

Amendments to the Marketing Act ensuring BC, SC, ST and Minority reservation in nominated posts of Market Committees and two other amendments to Municipal Administration and Urban Development Act were also ratified. Cabinet also gave its nod for the establishment of Brahmin Corporation with Rs 100 crore corpus fund.
