Opposition parties term the Budget speech ‘worthless’, ‘unenthusiastic’ and ‘KCR-mark’

Hyderabad: The Congress described the address by Governor E S L Narasimhan to the joint session of Telangana Legislature as uninspiring. The party deputy floor leader T Jeevan Reddy alleged that government has failed to overcome the drought conditions prevailing in the State and given utmost priority to ‘dustbins’ in GHMC area.

He was critical of the Governor’s address as it had failed to mention the identified drought mandals. “More so, the present government deceived the farmers by entering into an MOU with the Maharashtra government for 148 metres height for the Kaleswaram project as against the earlier agreement for 152 metres height and changed the project as lift irrigation project instead of gravity one,” he said.

The address also failed to mention about the 12 percent reservation to tribal and Telangana movement’s martyrs. He said, “The Chief Minister has no right to rule the State as he has failed to identify the martyrs.” The Budget Session began with the Governor’s address. After his speech, the Opposition parties Congress, BJP, CPI, CPM and YSRCP alleged that the Governor’s address was similar to the Chief Minister’s regular speech.

They asserted that there was nothing new in the address. Speaking to the media on the Assembly premises on Thursday, Congress senior leader G Chinna Reddy alleged that the Governor’s address was insipid. He said, “We expected a lot from the Governor’s speech as an Opposition party, but it is unenthusiastic.”

The Governor said in his speech that the growth rate of the State was 11.7, but in reality it was not so, he said and added that the actual agriculture growth rate was minus 0.4, but the Governor had shown it as 0.8 percent.

MLC Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy alleged that the Governor’s address was a ‘KCR-mark speech’ and it showed ‘Bangaru Telangana’ cinema. He asserted that the government had made the Governor to speak ‘lies’ in the House and silenced the Opposition parties.
