Nalgonda: Distressed as the government failed to respond to his repeated requests for financial help, a Telangana activist on Thursday committed suicide by jumping before a running train at Bhongir railway station.

The 45-year-old Jakkula Ramaswamy, native of Thurkashapuram village of Gundala Mandal, had participated in separate Telangana agiation. He became handicapped as his backbone was broken during a lathi charge at Million March.

Due to ill-health, he was living with his brother in Bhongir town. Earlier, he made several representations to the elected representatives and the government seeking financial help, but of no use. Ramasway was depressed and ended his life. The railway police rushed to the spot and recovered suicide note from the place.
