Hyderabad: On the completion of one year of launching the prestigious “Mission Kakatiya” programme, Minister for Irrigation T Harish Rao on Saturday thanked people, particularly farming community, philanthropists and officials of all departments involved in making the mission success in phase one . He hoped all section of people would extend cooperation to achieve the goals set under phase two programme, scheduled to begin in April.

As part of review programme, State Special Chief Secretary to Irrigation S K Joshi held a detailed review on the status of tank restoration works taken up under phase one and the progress in the finalisation of tenders called for phase two works. In the video conference with district officials at the Secretariat, Joshi was informed that works had been completed on 4193 water bodies out of 8,016 under phase one. Works taken up at 3,800 tanks would be completed by March-end and another 1,500 tanks would be revived by April-end.

The official said administrative sanctions had been given to 4,500 tanks and approvals would be accorded for another 1,300 water bodies under second phase by March 20. Joshi instructed the engineers to complete tender process by March-end and begin works in April without any delay.

He also enquired about the status of the construction of mini tank bunds and instructed the officials to take up regular visits and ensure that the contractors do not compromise on the quality of work. Engineer –in- Chief (Irrigation) Muralidhar Rao, Chief Engineers( Minor Irrigation) Nagendar Rao and Suresh Kumar and Minister OSD Sridhar Rao Deshpande were also present.
