Telangana IT Minister KT Rama Rao addressed the Hyderabad Metro Rail project during the Question Hour in the Telangana Assembly on Sunday and even appealed the Speaker to provide the time to answer the questions being posed by the Opposition leaders.

Responding to TPCC Working President Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka's question on the Metro Rail project, KTR clarified that the alignment for the project has nor changed and further explained that the project is progressing according to the initial agreement that was made in 2010. KTR stated that the Metro Rail project was handed over through low-cost bidding to L & T for Rs 14,132 crores and 75 percent of the project is completed assuring that the operations will begin within 2-3 months as scheduled.

MIM MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi also took up the issue while questioning the Minister over the compensation being offered for the properties that are getting affected due to the Metro Rail project and whether the stations will hold any commercial activities. Replying to the query, KTR said that Metro rail fares will be between Rs 13 -25 and added that the company will take years to garner profits.
