Warangal: In yet another initiative aimed at citizen-friendly responsive policing, the Warangal police have come up with a ‘Hawk Eye’ mobile application, thus join the elite club of Delhi and Hyderabad. In fact the Hawk Eye app seeks to turn a common man into citizen police. The app has features on women safety while on travel and a SOS button for accessing help in emergency situations. When the SOS button is pressed, a distress message will go to pre-determined friends, relatives and police.

Police Commissioner G Sudheer Babu, who launched the App on Saturday, said: “Safety has become a major area of concern for women, who in these days are spending a considerable time outside their homes. The app will really come in handy for girl students and women, especially those who work till late in the evenings or do night shifts, to draw the attention of the police.”

All that you need to do is to take a snap of the vehicle before you board it and send it to police through Hawk Eye. It will help the police to take necessary action if any problem arises, he said. It may be mentioned here that in the last couple of years, Warangal police have come up with a host of activities like ‘Blue Colts’ to keep vigil round-the-clock and reach instantly to any crime spot, ‘She Teams’ to stop eve-teasing and WhatsApp number that help people in distress.

This apart, the police have also launched the works of cable laying to install CCTV cameras at all vantage points to bring the city under round-the-clock surveillance. The Commissioner appealed to people to download the Hawk Eye app from Google play store on their smart phones and register with the police.

The citizens can also send the photograph or video of any crime or any traffic violation to police. The complainants will get acknowledgement besides accessing to the status of the report. The app also has a feature to register details of servant, worker and tenant with the police, and the phone numbers of police officers.
