Nalgonda: Minister for Power and SC Development G Jagdish Reddy on Tuesday flayed the Congress leaders from the district for writing a letter to the Centre urging it not to extend Rs 15,000 crore loan for Mission Bhagiratha (Water Grid) project, taken up by the State government to provide drinking water connection to every house in three years.

  • Power Minister launched desilting works of a tank at Pedda Suraram village of Thipparthy mandal under second phase of Mission Kakatiya
  • He flayed the Congress leaders from the district for writing a letter to the Centre urging it not to extend Rs 15,000 crore loan for Mission Bhagiratha (Water Grid) project
  • He demanded the Congress party to expel Sukender Reddy from the party if the party had no role in writing the letter

He also cautioned the Congress leaders that the party would be washed out from the State if they don’t stop creating hurdles for the State development. The Minister launched desilting works of a tank at Pedda Suraram village of Thipparthy mandal under second phase of Mission Kakatiya.

Speaking at a meeting organised on the occasion, Jagdish Reddy pointed out that Congress MP Gutha Sukender Reddy had written a letter to the Centre seeking not to extend Rs 15,000 crore loan for the execution of Mission Bhagiratha programme. He sought to know whether Congress leaders Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, K Jana Reddy and Uttam Kumar Reddy were involved in the episode.

He demanded the Congress party to expel Sukender Reddy from the party if the party had no role in writing the letter. Sukender Reddy should also render an apology to the people for working against the interests of the Telangana state, he demanded. “It is unfortunate that majority of the Congress leaders who are creating hurdles for the development of the State belong to Nalgonda district.

The same leaders earlier worked as coverts during Telangana agitation and took money from the then Chief Minister late Y S Rajasekhar Reddy to dilute the movement,” the Minister alleged. Reminding that drinking water problem was one of the major problems being faced by the Telangana state, Jagdish Reddy averred that the TRS government has taken up Mission Bhagiratha to solve the problem by drawing water from Krishna and Godavari rivers.

He charged the district Congress leaders with trying to create hurdles for politics and votes. He called upon the people to stand still these Congress leaders when they come to their villages. Claiming that there was ‘no power cut’ even in the summer, he reiterated that nine-hour power supply would be ensured to the farmers from the month of March.

Stating that availability of water is the key for the development of any area, he felt that the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has taken up Mission Kakatiya for restoration of the tanks. The Kakatiya kings had developed a chain of tanks for the development of Telangana and the farmers themselves protected the tanks for over 1,000 years.

However, in united Andhra Pradesh, the rulers deliberately neglected for the last 60 years which ultimately led to their destruction, he regretted. The Minister exuded confidence that Mission Kakatiya would bring past glory to the tanks which automatically help villages as well as the farmers in the state develop.

Listing out the welfare schemes and development projects of the State government, Jagdish Reddy appealed to the people to take part in the development of villages. Thipparthy ZPTC Thandu Saidulu, TRS Nalgonda constituency in-charge Dubbaka Narsimha Reddy, Nalgonda RDO Venkata Chary and others were present.
