They expressed the hope that with these funds, the infrastructure facilities in the municipal corporation could be developed and better services could be provided to the people. The Finance Minister Eetela Rajender on Monday released Rs 100 crore to the Nizamabad Municipal Corporation in State budget and also to the Karimnagar, Ramagundam, Khammam and Warangal municipalities.

These funds should be utilised for the betterment of infrastructure facilities in the three towns. It may be recalled that the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had given an assurance to the people that the government would release Rs 100 crore every year to the three municipal corporations for the next three years.

The Rs 100 crore worth funds could be utilised for the construction of roads, upgradation of the sewerage system, laying of water pipelines for supplying drinking water, construction of public parks and the strengthening of the garbage maintenance system to make the town clean and green.

Speaking to the media here on Monday, Dandi Venkat, district CPM general secretary said that government releasing funds to the various municipalities in budget, along with Nizamabad municipal corporation, was a good sign. But the governing bodies of the Corporation should utilise them properly and prevent corruption among the officials and contractors.

Otherwise, the entire purpose of developing the town would be defeated, he added. On the occasion, Nizamabad Municipal Corporation Mayor Aakula Sujatha expressed her happiness over the release of funds amounting to Rs 100 crore in the State budget. She said that she was extremely grateful to Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, Finance Minister Eetela Rajender and the Nizamabad MP Kalvakuntla Kavitha for taking necessary steps and sanctioning funds to Nizamabad.

The Mayor said that they would utilise these funds according to the guidelines fixed by the State government and the Department of Municipal Administration. With these funds, Nizamabad Municipal Corporation would be in a better position to provide quality services to the people and speed up the pending works, she added.
