With its commitment to ensure maximum coverage to underprivileged people in need of welfare, the State government prioritised various schemes by allocating maximum budget. For the first time, government has allocated Rs 100 crore for Brahmins, under the ‘Brahmin Samkshema Nidhi.’

The government felt that like others in the society there was a sizeable number of Brahmin population that was facing problems due to poverty. "Shortly, the government will work out modalities for the welfare of Brahmins and decide on the action plan," Finance Minister E Rajendar said.

The government believed that the Kalyana Lakshmi scheme had met the objective of addressing the problem associated with the marriage of girls.
