Hyderabad: The PIL bench of the High Court at Hyderabad on Wednesday permitted the Telangana State government to go ahead with the tenders submitted for Palamur – Ranga Reddy Lift Irrigation Scheme (PRLIS).

The bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Dilip B Bhosale and Justice P Naveen Rao was dealing with a public interest writ petition filed by BJP leader and former Minister Nagam Janardhan Reddy.

The petitioner alleged that there were large-scale irregularities in the tender process. He pointed out that the government had ignored the recommendations made by experts from Engineering Staff College of India (ESCI). Submitting necessary documents before the bench, counsel for the petitioner Y Srinivasa Murthy pointed out that the government had ignored the recommendations regarding the work experience, technical specifications about the pump capacity, etc.

Telangana State Advocate General T Ramakrishna Reddy pointed out that all recommendations were considered though not in order of the recommendations. The bench after going through the documents opined that the government could not grant work contract to someone who may not come up to the standards fixed by the ESCI.

The bench directed the government to go ahead with the tender process only. The bench adjourned the matter to March 28 and said the final agreement of the tender was subject to judgement in the present case.
