Hyderabad: Municipal Administration Minister K T Rama Rao on Thursday acknowledged that lack of toilets and parking space were major constraint for tourists visiting Charminar. The Minister was replying to a question raised by MIM floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi on the Charminar Pedestrianisation Project in the Old City which has been pending for decades.

He said the government would soon conduct a tour with members to come up with suggestions for improving the surroundings around Charminar. “We will encourage private players and locals to be part of the parking project in the vicinity by offering them additional floor space index and provide mobile toilets immediately for the convenience of tourists,” he said.

Meanwhile, during Zero Hour, MIM MLA Jaffar Hussain raised the issue of exorbitant fees being collected by private school managements in the city. He wanted the government to curb such practices. He said parents were being forced to mortgaging their property to pay fees of their children.
