Hyderabad: The State government is planning to increase allocations for the Irrigation sector from Rs 25,000 crore, earmarked in 2016-17 budget proposals, to Rs 35,000 crore by 2018. Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao, in his replying on debate on the demands for grants in the Assembly on Tuesday, said the government had proposed to spend nearly Rs 1.50 lakh crore for redesigning and reengineering irrigation projects in the coming years. "Since more funds were required every year, allocations would be increased from Rs 30,000 crore to Rs 35,000 crore from the next financial year," he said.
