Hyderabad: The South Zone Task Force police on Tuesday arrested five persons including a student from Kalapather for robbing a businessman from Begum Bazaar last Saturday. According to police, a case of robbery was registered by the Charminar police following a complaint by a businessman from Begum Bazaar area stating that some unknown persons intercepted him near Petlaburj while he was on the way home from his shop carrying Rs 5.3 lakh cash.

Subsequently investigation was started and CC camera footages were collected to find out the clues. On Tuesday, a police constable received credible information about the accused and the teams have nabbed five persons.

Mohammed Akram (34), an electrician; Mohammed Muqramuddin Khan alias Anwar (33), a driver; Syed Sarvar (22), a centering worker; Abdul Sami alias Asif alias Ashi (18), a degree student and Abdul Kareem (30), a furniture maker; all hailing from Kalapather area, were identified and arrested, said South Zone DCP V Satyanarayana during a press conference at his office.

The DCP said prime accused Akram, who worked as an employee with the complainant sometimes ago, was well acquainted with the financial transactions of the victim.
