People across the district celebrated Holi, the festival of colours on a grand note. Irrespective of caste, religion and gender, all sections of the people from children to the aged took part in the celebrations on Wednesday. As a part of the celebrations, people greeted each other after smearing colours and spraying coloured water from pichkaries.

Irrespective of caste, religion and gender, all sections of the people from children to the aged took part in the celebrations on Wednesday. As a part of the celebrations, people greeted each other after smearing colours and spraying coloured water from pichkaries.

Girls greeted their loved ones by applying tilak on foreheads and offering sweets to them. The youth across the district sang and danced to the music which was accompanied by the beating of drums. The residents of various apartments organised the festival in their premises. Majority of residents took part in the events and shared their happiness with their neighbours.

Some of the teachers, members of various clubs and pro- Hindu groups organised rallies and greeted the public on their way. The TRS cadres went to the houses of their leaders and splashed colours on them. Even the leaders of the Opposition parties also played Holi. The students, writing SSC exams also participated in the celebrations enthusiastically to get rid of the examination tension and to share happiness with their friends.

On the eve of Holi, the village youth enjoyed swimming in the canals and water bodies to beat the heat. Police made elaborate arrangements across the district to avoid any untoward incidents during the celebrations.
