Bhadrachalam (Khammam): While Hindus world over celebrated Holi on Wednesday with their faces and clothes smeared in myriad of hues; the precincts of Lord Sita Ramachandra Swamy temple here echoed with Vedic hymns as the women, clad in traditional attire, commenced the preparation of the Talambralu (rice mixed with turmeric, saffron, vermilion and other ingredients), signalling the start of pelli panulu (wedding rituals) ahead of Lord’s Kalyana Mahotsavam on April 15.

With devotees playing a splash of colors, the temple complex witnessed a hectic activity with priests performing Viswaksena puja, Punyavachanam and other rituals right through the day. The ritual of Talambralu commenced with the crushing of turmeric at the Chitrakuta Mandapam, as Vedic hymns of the priests rented the air.

Women clad in traditional attire have begun preparing Talambralu with rice (20 quintals), turmeric, saffron, vermilion and other scented ingredients for the celestial wedding of the presiding deities on Sri Rama Navami. The preparation of talambralu will continue till Lord’s wedding. It may be mentioned here that the rituals of Lord’s wedding will begin every year on Phalguna Suddha Pournami.

It is also the occasion that Goddess Sita and Lord Rama are prepared as bride and bridegroom. Lord’s Dolotsavam was a treat to watch for the devotees before they took part in the Tiru veedhi seva in the evening. Earlier in the day, over 200 devotees under the aegis of Sri Kodanda Rama Bhakta Brundam of Samiti Singaram village under Manuguru mandal coming on foot offered one crore ‘Goti Talambralu' (removal of husk of paddy by nails) to the Lord.
