Hyderabad: Blue Cross and Humane Society International-India have announced a cash reward of Rs 50,000 on Thursday for providing information leading to the identification, arrest and conviction of the person who threw acid on a pony in the city.

The malnourished pony was rescued near Bhoiguda Veterinary hospital in a pathetic state late on Wednesday. Members of Blue Cross received information about the pony and rescued it. The pony suffered damage to its eyes, face, neck and a portion of his front leg.

Animal protection organisation, Humane Society International/India (HSI/India) and Blue Cross of Hyderabad have announced the joint reward.On enquiring about the owners, volunteers found no information and it was shifted to Blue Cross. The personnel at Blue Cross said the pony is currently being treated for severe burns at the shelter.

“The chances of restoring his vision depend on whether he can fight off septicaemia and other infections that set in burn injuries. The animal’s prognosis is declared poor. We are in process of filing a complaint,” the members said.
