Hyderabad: Taking cognizance of The Hans India reports, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has ordered a vigilance inquiry against sanitation officials involved in corrupt practices in the south and west zones. According to sanitation wing officials, GHMC Commissioner B Janardhan Reddy, asked vigilance officials to submit reports on the irregularities in Swachh Bharath auto-rickshaw distribution and fake attendance in 24 circles in the city at the earliest.

Similarly, another news item was published on March 21with the headline “GHMC sanitation wing reeks of scam” in which an attendance scam worth over Rs 85 crore involving sanitary field assistants (SFA) has also been uncovered, wherein certain officials colluded with the field assistants in drawing salaries in the name of employees who did not turn up for daily duty. Preliminary enquiries revealed that these field assistants were marking attendance of civic workers on sheets of white paper, which did not have any official sanctity.
