Irregularities in toilets: RWS AE suspended
Gambhiraopet mandal Rural Water Supply Assistant Engineer Rajkumar was placed under suspension in connection with irregularities in the construction of individual toilets in the mandal headquarters. District Collector Neetu Kumari Prasad issued orders by suspending the AE on Saturday.

In the wake of reports carried in the media that irregularities took place in the construction of individual toilets, the Collector ordered for probe into the allegations. Based on the enquiry report, she took the decision to suspend him. Show-cause notice was also served to MPDO for neglecting duties.
In a statement, Collector Neetu Kumari Prasad informed that action would also be initiated against village Sarpanch Papannagari Bhulaxmi through the district Panchayat Officer. The officials were asked to recover the amount of 185 individual toilets that was drawn without constructing the toilets, she informed.
She also said that RWS officials were asked to complete the ongoing works of toilets as early as possible and issue sanction order to 71 units which were already completed. She made it clear that there was no question of tolerating corruption in any form and assured to take steps not to repeat such kind of incidents in the future.
Besides RWS officials, 16 revenue department teams were also deployed in 16 wards of the village to investigate into the allegations. It was established in the enquiry that the Sarpanch, by colluding with the RWS engineer, usurped the amount without constructing toilets. Out of 838 toilets sanctioned for the village, irregularities took place in majority of the units.
