Nalgonda: The role of former Maoist and TRS leader late Konapuri Sambashivudu during the Telangana agitation was unforgettable, Bhongir MP Dr Boora Narasaiah Goud praised. TRS leader and a former Maoist Sambashivudu, whose original name was Konapuri Ilaiah, was hacked to death by unidentified persons in Nalgonda on March 26, 2011.

He was once an active naxal before surrendering in 2009 due to ill-health and joined Telangana Rashtra Samithi 2010. On the occasion of fifth death anniversary of Sambashivudu, MP Boora Narsaiah Goud handed over a check of Rs 10 lakh, issued by the State government, to his family members at a programme held at the district party office here on Saturday.

Speaking to the gathering, the MP said that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao will never forget any martyrs, who scarified their lives to realise the separate Telangana dream of the public. Sambashivudu’s daughter Swarna, parents Chandraiah, Lakshamma, TRS district president Banda Narender Reddy and other leaders participated in the programme. Leaders paid tributes to the late leader.
