Rohith Vemula’s family amidst financial crisis

Rohith Vemula's family who has been protesting since his suicide in January are facing a financial crisis. Raja Vemula, the brother of Rohith Vemula, is a project fellow at the NGRI but has been on leave since the suicide in order to deal with the legal affairs, media, NGOs and keeps travelling places to speak on various forums about Rohith.

While Rohith used to send a part of his fellowship to his family when he was alive, Raja's contract at NGRI end in March and following that he is not sure of his next source of income.

Raja who was in the hospital where Radhika Vemula was admitted with high BP revealed that the job or the promised financial package by two ministers of the TD government have not shaped up and also that his mother has been falling ill since Rohith’s death. He further said that the government is focused on proving that they are Dalits instead of examining the circumstances that led to his brother's death.
