Telangana Irrigation Minister Harish Rao speaking in the Assembly on Monday addressed various issues including water projects and illegal sand mafia in the state. While he discussed the revenue increase in the state during the TRS rule in a year's time due to the decrease in the cost of sand, Harish Rao also alleged that earlier the sand cost was more but the revenue was less. The Minister, however, added that sand is free of cost for local purposes but a strict action is being taken against illegal sand mining.

The Minister took up the issue of water projects in the state where he elaborated the functioning and how the government was given approval, clearance from the Centre, further challenging the Council to prove that his version was not correct. However, Congress MLC Shabbir Ali countered Harish Rao by questioning the latter for repeatedly raising challenges and added that if it continues, the Council will soon become empty.
