Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Assembly Speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao on Tuesday appreciated the work of Telugu associations in foreign countries for extending support and help to the Telugu people.
The work of Telugu associations in foreign countries was commendable, Kodela said while handing over a cheque of Rs 9.50 lakh to the family members of K Poojita of Papannapet in Lakshminagar mandal of Medak district.
A formal function was organised in his chamber where he handed over the cheque. The amount was collected by NRIs of North America Telugu Society to extend financial help to meet the medical expenditure of Poojita, a B Tech student, who met with an accident in November last year.
Later, the cheque was handed over to Global Hospital where Poojita is undergoing treatment. AP Labour Minister Atchannaidu, MLA Gouthu Shivaji, Rajahmundry MLA Akula Satyanarayana and others were present.
