Commercial Taxes enforcement wing to be strengthened

Hyderabad: The Commercial Taxes Department will strengthen enforcement wing by filling 500 vacancies and modernising 16 check-posts. Replying during Question Hour in Legislative Council on Tuesday, Minister for Commercial Taxes Talasani Srinivas Yadav said on Tuesday that following formation of Telangana State, the tax collection had almost doubled as the officials were keeping a vigil and plugging the tax evasion.

He also informed the members that steps like strengthening of enforcement wing, apart from invoice tracking of purchases and sales data of the business were being taken up for ensuring maximum tax collection is achieved. He also informed that the State had achieved 16 per cent growth generating Rs 27,868.68 crore during 2015-16 and generated Rs 22,942.14 crore during 2014-15. Compared to other states, including AP (14.45 per cent), he said the Telangana State had achieved a growth rate which was not seen earlier.
