The University of Hyderabad students along with two professors are all set to intensify the protests demanding vice chancellor Appa Rao be removed. 25 students and two faculty members had been arrested but were released from jail on Tuesday night and followed their release with a huge march on the campus.

Stating that the police repression had only strengthened their resolve, students raised revolutionary slogans and held torches as well as placards demanding the arrest of Appa Rao. The Vice-Chancellor who resumed office on March 22 led to protests and arrest of protestors who sought justice for the Dalit research scholar Rohith Vemula who committed suicide.

Recalling the incidents of March 22, the students said that the police beat them up in vans and took them from one police station to other abusing them. The students even revealed that the police had called them anti-national and that women students were molested.
