Khammam: CPI state committee member and former MLA Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao accused the government of trying to hike the power charges. Speaking at the party’s district council meeting here on Tuesday, he alleged that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao who promised golden Telangana during the 2014 elections was actually hoodwinking the people with his oratory skills.

“The ruling party is trying to bulldoze every time when the leaders of the Opposition raise questions over the government’s anti-people policies,” he said. Both Mission Bhagiratha and Mission Kakatiya programmes have become money-spinners for Chief Minister’s son K Taraka Rama Rao and nephew T Harish Rao respectively, the former MLA alleged, saying that the state was under the family rule of K Chandrashekar Rao.

He said that both Central and State governments have totally failed in addressing the problems of the people. By increasing the prices of petroleum products frequently, the Centre was breaking the back of the common man, he said. The CPI leader criticised Roads and Buildings Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao for not pursuing the government though the government didn’t identify a single mandal as drought-affected while several parts of the district were reeling under famine conditions.

He demanded the administration that they ensure drinking water supply through tankers in all villages. Former legislator Puvvada Nageswar Rao, party district council secretary Bagam Hemanth Rao and joint secretary Sk Sabir Pasha were present in the meeting presided over by the senior leader Singu Narsimha Rao.
