Hyderabad: Osmania University Teachers’ Association and Non-Teaching Staff Association have decided to hold a series of protests against the indifferent attitude of the government to release the last grant to the varsity. The university teachers lamented that even as the fresh financial year commenced the government was yet to release the final block to the university to the tune of Rs 58 crore.

“The grant was supposed to be released in January. Till the last moment on March 31 they did not clear the file. Though the government did not increase the grant this year, at least they should ensure what they have promised last year,” said OUTA vice-president A Ramulu.

Starting from Saturday, the teachers would stage protest at the administration building on the campus. “With no sign of grant from the government, the university is now planning to use UGC fund, revenue generated from the distance education,” said Prof B Satyanarayana, president, Osmania Teachers’ Association.
