Warangal police to organise Youth Sports Meet
With an intention to encourage the rural youth engage in sports and explore their sporting skills, the Warangal (Rural) police has planned to organise Youth Sports Meet. The sports meet which is likely to commence in the second week of April is also meant to commemorate Telangana Formation Day celebrations which falls on June 2.
Warangal: With an intention to encourage the rural youth engage in sports and explore their sporting skills, the Warangal (Rural) police has planned to organise ‘Youth Sports Meet’. The sports meet which is likely to commence in the second week of April is also meant to commemorate Telangana Formation Day celebrations which falls on June 2.
The sports meet is planned to be held at three levels, mandal, police sub-division and district level. Speaking to The Hans India on Friday, Superintendent of Police( Rural) Ambar Kishor Jha disclosed that there was lot of unexplored sports talent in rural areas. The objective of conducting the event was to bring out such talent and provide a platform for the youth to showcase their skills, he added.
‘Our efforts in promoting sports in rural areas would not be limited to conducting one or two events like this. We want to make certain that it would be a continuous process. It is planned to hire locally available experts to train the youth in sporting activities’ he said. In addition, rural police wing is planning to develop playgrounds in villages and mandal headquarters on permanent basis with the help of local sarpanches and other elected members.
Developing sports grounds would further helps youth to get absorbed in sports and it would make them healthy and fit, the SP pointed out. It is planned to conduct events like kabaddi and volleyball as part of the sports meet. Apart from this, cricket tournaments would also be organised at police sub-division level between the Police XI and Public XI as part of Telangana Formation Day celebrations. The prizes distribution ceremony would be held on the State Formation Day, the SP, Jha informed.
