Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR) solved a major bottleneck which will now pave the way for expediting works in the Metro Rail Corridor – I, from Miyapur to SR Nagar (29 km). It is after three years of negotiations that the HMR has been successful in persuading Wakf Board and the Imadul Trust to shift the compound wall of the graveyard by about 15 feet at Srinagar colony junction between Ameerpet and Panjagutta.

Compensation of Rs.2.56 crore for 214 sq.yds of open land in a family grave yard is under the control of Imadul Trust, the 50 feet narrow stretch of the road between the two grave yards at this junction was widened by another 16 feet by HMRL and with this the remaining five metro rail pillars at this critical junction can be taken up with diversion of some traffic via Big Bazar (old Goldspot Building) road, stated MD, HMRLNVS Reddy.

This narrow stretch remained a severe bottleneck on NH 65 (earlier NH No.9) for the last many decades. With this road widening and removal of obstacles like electrical transformers, electric poles etc., now the Right of Way for the entire Metro Rail Corridor - I (Miyapur - SR Nagar; 29 km) is free from any obstacle and metro works can be expedited on this corridor, he added. The Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma monitored the negotiations with Minority Welfare Secretary Omar Jaleel and builder Zulfi for facilitating the breakthrough.
