Hyderabad: City Police Commissioner Mahender Reddy said that the Hyderabad police were making all necessary efforts to make Hyderabad a crime-free city and want to create a sense of security to the public. He was speaking at a sensitisation programme organised at Film Nagar on Saturday.

The Film Nagar Cooperative Society on Saturday presented Rs 50 lakh to the Hyderabad City Police to install 100 CC cameras in the vicinity as part of AP Public Safety Act. Speaking at the gathering, the Commissioner said by next year, the city would have about one lakh CC Cameras to monitor every inch of the city.

These cameras would help in preventive policing and also help detect offenses at the earliest, he said. With the initiatives of the State government, the response time of police in attending a scene of offense has been reduced to five minutes, he said.

“We are now focusing on preventive policing and also to increase the certainty of being caught and certainty of being punished if any person indulges in crime. For this, CC Cameras play a crucial role in collection of technical and scientific evidences,” the Commissioner said.

Reddy also expressed his desire of busting every crime within a span of 24 hours and sought public participation in policing. He also emphasised on effective traffic management. “In the next two years, cop-less management system will be implemented in Hyderabad and every citizen should be delightful to ride on Hyderabad roads,” he added, thanking the society members for coming forward to take part in policing.
