Left parties CPI and CPI (M) in the district are somewhat better in organising programmes and protests against government for the welfare of public. Over the last six months, leaders from the Left parties toured all the mandals in the district and submitted ground report on prevailed drought situation to the government even before it made declared drought-hit mandals.

Nalgonda: All the Opposition parties in the district are facing music by the ruling party Telangana Rashtra Samithi. TRS district unit is marching ahead with its ‘Operation Akarsh’ in the district under the leadership of Minister G Jagadish Reddy, a confidant of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and district party president Banda Narender Reddy.
Also, recently they held a huge protest with women activists before Nagarjuna Sagar dam Chief Engineer Office with empty pots demanding release of Krishna water from the dam to left canal to fill the water bodies to cater to the drinking needs of district public in view of summer.
The situation of Telugu Desam Party in the district is very miserable. One can say it is a ship without rudder. Almost 90 per cent of the top and second level cadre embraced TRS. A majority of the local body representatives (MPTCs, ZPTCs, Councillors) jumped into the pink party during the local body MLC election conducted in the December 2015. The TRS candidate in local body MLC election Tera Chinnapa Reddy was a TDP MP candidate from Nalgonda Lok Sabha constituency in 2014 general elections. The very few leaders left across the district are confined to press meets.
Bharatiya Janata Party, which is at power at the Centre, has also been reduced to criticising the State government’s failures in its press conferences. The top brass of the district leadership are more focussed on Central based nomination posts than creating awareness on the Union government’s welfare programmes among the public.
When it comes to YSRCP, few fans of late Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy and Jagan Mohan Reddy are left in the party.
Congress party, the main opposition, has won respectable seats in 2014 general elections in the district. All most all the elected MPs, MLAs and MLCs of the district are top brass leaders in the state. TPCC president Uttam Kumar Reddy, Congress floor leader Jana Reddy and CLP Deputy Floor leader Komatireddy Venkat Reddy hail from Nalgonda district but there is a lack of co-ordination and conflict among them. For example, TPCC chief Uttam Kumar slammed K Chandrashekar Rao over his PowerPoint presentation in Assembly while the next day CLP deputy floor leader praised the Chief Minster’s PPT on irrigation projects as vision document. With many power centres and flaws within the party, Congress is losing its following.
