Durmukhhi Nama Telugu New Year day Ugadi was celebrated with religious fervour and gaiety with special spiritual and cultural programmes at temples across the district on Friday. The devotees thronged the temples which were beautifully decorated from the early hours y marking the New Year day and offered special prayers.

At the historic Bhadrakali and the Thousand Pillared temple in the city, special rituals were conducted along with ‘Panchaga Sravanam’. At the Bhadrakali Temple, MPs P Dayakar and G Sudharani, Warangal Mayor N Narender, MLA D Vinay Bhasker, TRS leader G Ravi Kumar and others offered special prayers along with their family members.

At the Thousand Pillared Temple, a priest Samudrala Shatagopacharyulu rendered Telugu Almanac (Panchangam). Recital of Kuchipudi, Bharata Natyam, Perini dances by Renuka and troupe, Ranjith and troupe an artist Padmapriya enthralled the audience. MLA D Vinay Bhasker felicitated the artists and around 40 poets who took part in Ugadi Kavi Sammelanam at the temple.

The temple main priest G Upendra Sharma, senior journalist PV Madanmohan, I&PR Dy. director DS Jagan were present. The Brahmana Seva Samithi distributed free copies of new Telugu Almanac published by it. Samithi district president Inavolu Satya Mohan, urban president Valluri Pavan Kumar and its member Vasu Dhulipala visited the temples in the city distributing the copies to priests and devotees.

Pavana Kumar said the almanac contains auspicious and inauspicious times, general astrological study of zodiac signs and important dates for certain pujas and marriages. ‘It is a valuable possession for all the devotees and we are planning distribute one copy to each household’.

Gajanana Mandali of Advocates Colony in Hanamkonda also organised ‘Panchanga Sravanam’ on the day where Shankara Sharma rendered the Almanac. Rotary Club 3150 assistant governor K Indrasena Reddy and others were present.
