Warangal: A calf was killed by a hyena, which strayed into Chagal village of Station Ghanpur mandal during early hours on Sunday. The incident caused panic among the villagers, who feared that the wild creature strayed into the village, could be a leopard and informed police and forest authorities.

Two Forest Range Officers from Warangal went to Changal village and inspected the scene and collected the wild animal pug marks as evidence. Based on their investigation, DFO (Wild life) K Purushotham informed that it was a hyena that killed the calf and not a leopard. He told the villagers to be alert during the night hours as hyena could attack the cattle as well as the humans, if they were found alone.

The hyena killed the calf at the cattle shed belonging to a farmer Naraboina Yadagiri.
