Nalgonda: The ICDS officials, with the help of police and revenue officials, have successfully stalled marriage of a minor girl in Garidepally mandal in the district on Sunday. According to Garidepally police, a couple, residents of Gaddipally village of the Mandal, fixed the marriage of their daughter with a person, called Balu of Mattampally mandal. The girl wrote SSC exams.

The village anganwadi staff got the information about the wedding and informed the ICDS officials. On Sunday, the ICDS officials along with local SI and Tahsidar visited Gaddipally village and gave counseling to the parents of the minor girl. They explained about the laws related to child marriages.

The parents were convinced and assured that they will cancel the wedding. The officials has recorded the voice of minor girl and her parents and told the parents to perform their daughter’s marriage only after she completes 18 years of age. Otherwise, they warned that stringent action will be taken against the parents.
