Grand celebrations mark Babasaheb Jayanti

Warangal: Grand celebrations marked the 125th birth anniversary of Indian Constitution drafting committee chairman B R Ambedkar across the district on Thursday. An official celebration of the event was held at Ambedkar Bhavan in Hanamkonda.

ZP Chairperson G Padma, MP A Seetaram Naik, MLAs D Vinay Bhasker and Dr T Rajaiah, Warangal Mayor N Narender, ‘Dalit Ratna’ B Kattaiah, District Collector V Karuna, rural SP Ambar Kishor Jha, Commissioner of Police G Sudheer Babu and Joint Collector Prashanth J Patil attended the celebration.

They exhorted people to remember the life and works of Ambedkar and follow his ideals. MP Seetaram Naik stated that Telangana government was making efforts to realise Ambedkar dream of creating a socially equitable society by offering development opportunities to suppressed classes. The government was planning to fill up 25,000 jobs.

Those benefitted with reservations formulated by Ambedkar should support their fellow beings, he added. MLA Vinay Bhasker said the United Nations marking Ambedkar Jayanti has organised celebrations and it was a matter of pride for all the Indians while Collector Karuna described Ambedkar as a visionary.

Bharatiya Dalit Sahitya Academy district president M Jithender urged public to come forward serve the needy. ‘I got benefitted with reservations and job in police department as constable I am doing my part to pay back to the society by protecting a funeral ground of dalits and spreading Ambedkar ideology,’ he said.

He expressed pleasure over the UN declaring the Jayanti as ‘World Knowledge Day’. Marking the day, Sarvodaya Youth Organisation (SYO) has honoured dalit corporators who got elected to GWMC. P Swarnalatha, B Srilatha, Jorika Ramesh and Boda Dinna were felicitated by the SYO secretary P Damodar.

Similarly, district heads of Congress, TDP, CPI and CPM, N Rajender Reddy, G Satyanarayana Rao, T Srinivasa Rao and S Vasudeva Reddy and leaders have paid rich homage to Ambedkar at their respective offices and recalled his services to the nation and suppressed classes. At Kakatiya University in-charge Registrar Prof K Althaf Hussain, SDLCE Director Prof Ch Dinesh Kumar and university SC/ST wing Director G Brahmeshwari offered floral tributes to statue of Ambedkar on the campus.

Grand celebrations were held at TSRTC RM’s office where the Regional Manager E Yadagiri, MP A Seetaram Naik, MLA T Rajaiah, senior officials GSS Suresh, G Ramulu, M Chandraiah and union leaders recollected Ambedkar life and works. At TSNPDCL, its CMD, K Venkata Narayana, Director B Venkateshwara Rao and senior officials have eulogized the contributions made by Ambedkar for the welfare of oppressed classes and paid tributes to him.
