Celestial wedding of Lord Rama celebrated with religious fervour
The celestial wedding of Lord Rama with Goddess Sita was celebrated with grandeur and religious fervour across the district on Friday. All the temples at district headquarters and other places in the district have organised celebrations marking Sri Rama Navami. At the historic Thousand Pillar Temple in Hanamkonda, Warangal Mayor N Narender attended the celestial wedding and offered silk vastrams.
Warangal: The celestial wedding of Lord Rama with Goddess Sita was celebrated with grandeur and religious fervour across the district on Friday. All the temples at district headquarters and other places in the district have organised celebrations marking Sri Rama Navami. At the historic Thousand Pillar Temple in Hanamkonda, Warangal Mayor N Narender attended the celestial wedding and offered silk vastrams and talambralu to the deities.
At the Anjaneya Swamy temple in Kazipet, MLA D Vinay Bhasker took part in the celestial wedding and offered silk vastrams and ‘muthyala talambralu’ to the deities. Similarly in the Sri Sita Ramanjaneya Swamy temple at the Revenue Colony in Hanamkonda town, large number of devotees participated in the celebrations and offered special prayers.
Telangana State Assembly Speaker S Madhusudhana Chary and Minister A Chandulal participated in the celestial wedding at local temples in Mogulappalli and Mulug villages respectively. At the Sri Ramachandra Swamy temple in Rayaparthy, MLA E Dayakar Rao and DCC Bank Chairman J Raghava Reddy took part in the celebrations.
Likewise, grand celebrations were held at the historic Sri Sitarama temples at Jeedikal in Lingala Ghanpur mandal and at Valmidi in Palakurthy mandal in the Warangal district. Mahabubabad witnessed Sri Rama Navami akin to event at Bhadrachalam. In Mahabubabad town, nearly 20,000 people from the surrounding hamlets and villages took part in the Sri Rama Navami celebrations at the Gandhi Park behind Sri Rama temple.
In this temple, Sri Rama Navami celebrations were being organised on a large scale similar to Bhadrachalam for the past 58 years under the supervision of a teacher, Voore Rama Koteswar Rao, who was the convener of the festival committee for over 50 years and he recently passed away.
Now his son, V Gurunadha Rao, who is also a teacher, was made the convener by local legislator B Shankar Naik and the committee elders. The celebrations were held for the first time in 1959, organised by the then local railway authorities and the Endowments Department took over the temple affairs later.
Temple Committee convener Gurunatha Rao, president J Venkateshwarlu and secretary M Nageshwar Rao, member Shamloya and others made elaborate arrangements for the event. MLA Banoth Shankar Naik presented silk vastrams and talambralu to the deities and witnessed the celestial wedding. Volunteers of SS Loya Trust and the Vasavi Club supplied water, butter milk and prasadam to the devotees.
