Hyderabad: The police have decided to verify the antecedents of the two lakh candidates who have applied for the posts of stipendiary cadet trainee sub-inspector posts in the State.

Telangana State Level Police Recruitment Board Chairman J Purnachandra Rao on Friday said over 487 candidates had applied for sub-inspector posts. But, some others had not provided personal details.

“Out of two lakh candidates, as many as 487 candidates admitted to have been involved in criminal cases. But some others did not give the details whether they had any criminal cases booked against them. Basically they were suspected to have suppressed the facts,” said the Chairman in a press note.

He, however, said no candidate would be barred from appearing for the recruitment tests at this stage even if they were involved in criminal cases. “Usually, the criminal antecedent check is done after the provisional selection of the candidates. This causes delays and mental agony to the genuine candidates.

While the candidates with criminal antecedents wait till they get fired, typically after a month of getting selected,” said Puranchandra Rao.

With the initiative of verifying the criminal antecedents of the candidates before recruitment, it would reduce the waiting time for others. The Board has tied up with Valuepitch Company that has built Criminal eVerification tool called “Verify24x7.”

The software would help check the antecedents of 12 crore people which has been collected from 19,000 courts across India and the data was being updated.
