TRS govt accused of harassing managements of private colleges in the name of inspections
Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President N Uttam Kumar Reddy accused the TRS government of harassing and intimidating managements of private colleges in the name of inspections.
Addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan on Monday, Uttam said many colleges did not pay salaries to their staff for the last two years. Most of them are unable to run day-to-day administration.
"Instead of taking a note of this situation and clearing fee reimbursement dues, the TRS government has constituted nearly 700 teams to inspect 6,300 institutions which are offering intermediate, degree and professional courses. Further, the government wants to use vigilance and police department for the inspection.
This is nothing but harassment and an attempt to intimidate the managements in order to prevent them from taking the path of agitation over fee reimbursement dues," he said. Uttam Kumar Reddy said all intermediate, degree and professional colleges are closed from Monday onwards in protest against the State government’s action.
Announcing Congress Party's complete support to the agitation, he accused the TRS government of deliberately sabotaging the entire education system in Telangana. "Hyderabad had emerged as an education hub during Congress regime. But TRS government has ruined everything in a span of just 23 months.
Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao must realise that he was not harassing just the managements, but playing with the lives and careers of lakhs of students in Telangana," he said adding that Congress party would soon launch an agitation over fee reimbursement dues.
