Hyderabad: Municipal Administration Minister K T Rama Rao on Thursday directed GHMC officials to book criminal cases against illegal wall posters and hoardings even if they belong to the ruling party.

  • MA& UD Minister K T Rama Rao directed them to remove posters, banners, hoardings and flexis put up without permission in the city
  • He said that illegal hoardings were the main cause for accidents

To make the city more attractive, the Minister took up a new initiative and directed officials to see that there were no illegal posters. The Minister directed them to remove posters, banners, hoardings and flexis put up without permission in the city.

He also wanted them to use the earlier available acts prohibiting the illegal wall posters and asked the officials to take action as per the Public Places Disfigurement Act.

The Minister said that because of the mushrooming of these illegal hoardings many accidents were reported and added that there would be an increase in the accidents during the rainy season.

He opined that the wall posters in public places were destroying the image of the city and said that it was the responsibility of the zonal and deputy commissioners to remove the banners pasted by various organisations and political parties.

Stating that posters were being stuck on walls, road dividers and many other places in the city, KTR asked GHMC officials to take the responsibility of cleaning those places. He asked the officials not to spare the ruling party posters and wanted them to be removed.

Apart from removing the posters and banners, the officials should book criminal cases against the people who are pasting them. = “Hyderabad should now become Swachh Hyderabad and the officials should take steps to maintain discipline.

People should also extend their help in the beautification of the city,” said KTR. The GHMC commissioner directed the lower level officers to remove the illegal posters and banners.
