Hyderabad: Defections continue to rock Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. While Congress MLA Puvvada Ajay Kumar and MLC Farooq Hussain on Monday joined ruling TRS in the presence of Chief Minister Chandrashekar Rao at his camp office here on Monday, five YSRCP MLAs -- G Ravi Kumar, B Rajasekhar Reddy, Sarvesh Kumar, Kidari Sarveswara Rao and Pothula Rama Rao -- are set to join TDP on Wednesday.

The five YSRCP MLAS gave a slip to the ‘Save Democracy’ yatra of Y S Jaganmohan Reddy in New Delhi. Jagan had gone to Delhi on Monday to mobilise support against what he said was “horse trading” of MLAs by TDP.

Interestingly, TRS and TDP opine that the defections should not be seen as ‘chillara mallara’ (cheap) politics but as realignment of political forces for development of their respective states.

Welcoming the leaders, who joined TRS on Monday, KCR said the reunification of political forces in Telangana was a historic necessity.

KCR lashed out at the opposition parties for making a hue and cry over every issue. “Few people in the opposition parties are trying to create hurdles in every developmental activity taken up by the government,” he said.

The Chief Minister assured to provide drinking water to the villages adjacent to the Khammam town by this year end. He also assured to provide irrigated water to every acre in Khammam through Godavari.

KCR stressed on the need for scientific development plans with increase in urbanization. He said that in future 50 per cent of the people of Telangana would live in urban areas and hence there is a need for a scientific planning.

Chief Minister revealed that Puvvada Ajay Kumar was in touch with him for many days and added that he was happy to see his entry into TRS. He said that an educated youth Puvvada was like his son. He asked the Roads and Buildings Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao to work with the leaders in coordination to strengthen the party in the district.

Stating that the party was becoming stronger in Khammam because of Nageswara Rao, KCR asked the minster to take along with him old and new workers in the party.

Stating that MLC Farooq Hussain was from his home town, KCR said that he had invited him to join TRS so that both can work together. He proised to provide prominent position to both the leaders who joined TRS on Monday.
