Hyderabad: Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao on Monday ridiculed the Opposition parties for teaming up to take on the ruling party in Palair byepoll. The Minister lashed out at the Telugu Desam Party, which was founded to fight against the Congress, had teamed up with the same party.

Though the leaders of the two parties claimed to be arch rivals, the TDP had a truck with the Congress to fight against the TRS, Harish said. “These parties have lacked courage to fight the TRS individually. Despite ganging up, the Congress and TDP will bite the dust in the byepoll as the people repose trust in the ruling party,” he maintained.

The TRS, he said, would repeat the results of recently held elections. He took a jibe at the Congress MP Gutha Sukhender Reddy, who opposed Mission Bhagiratha scheme, now planning to campaign in Palair byelection.

He also recalled that at the behest of then Chief Minister late Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, Jeevan Reddy contested against KCR. Even the Congress had failed to win Atchampet Assembly segment. The TRS government was committed to complete irrigation projects in two to three years while the previous governments took 10 to 20 years, he said.
