Warangal: The body of the migrant worker, Murahari Gopi (38) of Warangal, has arrived here on Wednesday, one month after he committed suicide at Sonapur labour camp in Dubai (United Arab Emirates). He allegedly hanged himself at the labour camp on the outskirts of Dubai on March 28 due to illness. He hailed from Kashibugga area in Warangal and went to Dubai six years ago in search of livelihood.

His body was brought to Warangal with the active support extended by Jagtial-based social worker Shaik Chand Pasha, a former migrant worker. He received the body brought from Dubai in a flight to Hyderabad International Airport from where it was transported to Warangal in an ambulance. The last rites were held at a burial ground at Kashibugga.

Congress leader Rajanala Srihari and others visited the residence of the deceased, paid last respects to him and consoled the family members. Sunitha, the widow of Gopi, has appealed the State government for support to look after her two children, Sai Murali, who completed the tenth class and physically challenged daughter Akhila, who can’t move on her own due to infirmity that rendered her bed-ridden.

‘We have none to care about us as we lost our sole bread winner. I want financial assistance to provide further education to my son,’ Sunitha pleaded. Meanwhile, social worker Chand Pasha informed that he filed a case against Sonapur municipality, where the deceased Gopi worked, seeking compensation.
