ZPSS Kambalapalli students set example
Distraught by depleting ground water levels, the students of ZPSS Kambalapalli in Mahabubabad Mandal in the district have decided to put the lessons they learnt on water harvesting into practice. Setting an example and laying emphasis on the fact that every drop of water counts, the students have come forward to dig up water harvesting pit and soak pit in their school premises to recharge ground.
Mahabubabad (Warangal): Distraught by depleting ground water levels, the students of Zilla Parishad Secondary School (ZPSS) Kambalapalli in Mahabubabad Mandal in the district have decided to put the lessons they learnt on water harvesting into practice. Setting an example and laying emphasis on the fact that every drop of water counts, the students have come forward to dig up water harvesting pit and soak pit in their school premises to recharge ground water.

‘The students are the ambassadors’ of tomorrow on water conservation, our students chose the right way, to send a message to society that saving water is an important aspect of life today,’ explained an environmentalist and physical science teacher at the school, Voore Gurunadha Rao.
The students learnt on the present-day water woes and wanted to adopt all possible water conservation methods and it is a lesson that everyone in the society should learn so as to address the crisis, he told The Hans India. In order to use the water wisely, the students have voluntarily dug up water harvesting pits and soak pits in the school having a strength of over 350 students.
The water harvesting pits and soak pits measure 4x4 and six feet deep, he informed. “We wanted the students to learn about rainwater harvesting and the importance of water conservation in a practical manner instead of telling the students what to do and what not to do when it comes to water conservation,” he added. “We conduct awareness programmes on water conservation and natural resources.
The latest initiative is part of the school’s mission to provide all-round education, besides what teach from textbooks to the students,” the school Headmaster, M Srinivasulu said. The Physical Education Teacher at the school, P Kashinath said they would dig some more rainwater harvesting pits on the school premises in the coming months to make use of every drop of water.
