Industrial Sector
Accelerating the growth of industrial and services sectors is vital for employment generation, especially to mitigate the problem of youth migration to urban areas due to pull and push factors. However, at the present growth in these sectors is not very labour intensive. Therefore, the higher growth rate in industrial and services sectors along with job creation are in the interest of the State.


Telangana has diversified its industrial base, from high-tech nanotechnology, biotechnology, and pharmaceuticals to traditional textiles, leather, minerals, and food processing. For further In order to provide an enabling business regulatory environment, Government enacted Telangana State Industrial Project Approval and Self-Certification System (TS-IPASS). It provides for speedy processing of applications for issue of various clearances at a single point. The Telangana State-Wide Investment Facilitation (T-SWIFT) Board was also created to pursue and clear all Mega Project proposals within 15 days. As on date, a total of 1,545 units were approved under TS-IPASS with investment worth 31,453 crores and about 1.12 lakh additional employment opportunities are expected to be created.

Apart from providing a business-friendly environment through above-mentioned policy frameworks, Government of Telangana started various incentives for encouraging the establishment of new industrial enterprises catering to needs of different sections of society such as T-IDEA scheme, special incentives for first generation entrepreneurs and women entrepreneurs, and T-PRIDE for developing entrepreneurship among SCs and STs and etc.

T-IDEA scheme provides following incentives to MSME:

100 percent reimbursement of Stamp duty on purchase of land,

25 percent rebate in land cost (limited to Rs.10 lakh),

fixed power cost reimbursement @ Rs. 1 per unit for 5 years,

15 percent investment subsidy on fixed capital investment (a maximum of Rs.20 lakh),

reimbursement of 100 percent net VAT/CST or State Goods and Services Tax (SGST) for a period of 5 years,

Interest subsidy under PavalaVaddi Scheme on the term loan taken on the fixed capital investment,

50% Reimbursement of cost involved in skill up gradation and training the local manpower limited to Rs.2000 per person,

50% subsidy on the expenses incurred for quality certification/patent registration limited to Rs. 2 Lakhs and

25% subsidy on specific cleaner production measures limited to Rs.5 Lakhs.

In order to tap full potentials of pharmaceutical, aerospace, biotechnology industries in the State, a world class ‘Pharma in Rangareddy and Mahabubnagar districts, Aerospace and Precision Engineering SEZat Adibatla ofRangareddy district and a Genome Valley (in four Phases) is being developed in Telangana. The State Government is pursuing Government of India to develop proposed National Investment Manufacturing Zone in Telangana.

Services Sector: IT Industry
Telangana is one the major exporter of Information Technology (IT) services in the country. Hyderabad has become a premier global destination for IT and ITeS. The proposed Information Technology Investment Region (ITIR) at Hyderabad will further enhance IT exports and employment opportunities in the Sector. Proactive initiatives are being taken by the state Government to create state-of-the-art physical infrastructure for the growth of the IT Sector in the State. In order expand the IT industry to other cities, Government has identified Warangal as Tier-2 IT hub and is providing suitable infrastructure facilities.

The performance of the IT sector has taken a toll in the wake of global economic slowdown. IT Companies have adopted various methods such as diversification of market base towards emerging and developing countries, product diversification and cost reduction. New policy framework for ICT, Animation & Gaming, and Electronic hardware is being prepared by the State Government and expected to be announced shortly.

T-Hub: Startup Telangana and Stand up Telangana
The government has launched the T-Hub to be a catalyst in developing Hyderabad as a start-up city and Telangana as a start-up state. The startup community in Hyderabad has shown their interest in being a part of T-Hub in various fields like agri-tech, life sciences, financial technology, smart cities, clean technology etc.

'Digital Telangana Program' was launched in State to avail and use digital services. Digital services are being provided by initiatives such as laying optical fiber cable (OFC) to each household, providing 4G services in the entire state, providing Wi-Fi in major cities and towns and rolling out of e-Panchayat scheme under which a One Stop Shop kiosk is made available in each Panchayat.


The biggest challenge the State facing in the services sector is skill gap that exists in students who just passed out of colleges and universities and industry requirements. In order to fill the skill deficit, the government has established Telangana Academy for Skill & Knowledge (TASK) to bring industry and academia on a single platform. This initiative is expected to increase the employability of students by imparting skills needed for the industry.

Tourism
Telangana, as the youngest State and the oldest civilization, is a home for famous heritage monuments, natural spots, and divine shrines. Its rich heritage and culture has attracted tourist from India and abroad. As a significant portion of Godavari traverse through Telangana, the State has become a natural choice for pilgrims arrived for the Godavari Pushkaralu. The important Ghats of Godavari Pushkaralu included Basara, Dharmapuri, Kaleswaram, and Badracham. The State Government made an elaborate arrangements in villages and towns all along the river for the convenience of the devotees.
