Warangal: Vedic pontiff and preacher Sri Tridandi Srimannarayana Ramanuja Chinna Jeeyar Swamy has called upon the societal members to make collective efforts to uphold and safeguard Indian culture and traditions.
He was here to attend the 91st birth celebrations of Warangal-based noted Sanskrit pundit Srirangam Nallan Chakravartula Raghunathacharyulu on Wednesday and performed ‘Sri Rama Paduka Pattabhishekam’ at the JN stadium in Hanamkonda on Thursday.
Hundreds of people attended the ceremony and a procession of ‘Ramanuja Ratham’ taken out from Public Gardens to JN Stadium marking the 1000th birth anniversary celebration of Ramanuja Charya Swamy.
Delivering a discourse prior to ‘Paduka Pattabhishekam’, Chinna Jeeyar Swamy urged public to dedicatedly follow the precepts of Vedic scriptures which he said a must for a peaceful and harmonious life.
People should adhere to virtues that were preached by ancient sages and Vedic texts and develop devotion to God in order to lead a stress free and simple life. ‘Lord Sri Rama is a consummate personality before us and the virtues for which he stood for are still relevant in our times,’ he said.
Further, he added ‘It is high time that people in present day society follow the qualities practiced by people during Ramayana era’. The humankind in their pursuit of survival and greed to excel has forgotten ethics and principles which the animals still follow.
